Engr. Humphrey A. Dolor, general manager of the Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative, identified the winning bidders as DMCI Power Corp., ORMIN POWER Inc., Power Pioneer JW&D Corp., RMS Technology and Waste Management Corp., East Paramount Energy Corp., and Green Force Energy Corp.
Dolor said the six companies submitted the needed documents in accordance with NEA and Department of Energy rules passed all the bidding process facilitated by a third-party bids and awards committee.
DMCI prevailed over other bidders in cornering the 10 MW and five MW baseload in Calapan, RMS took the 14 MW support load (load-following and peaking) in Pinamalayan, East Paramount got the 10 MW load in Bansud, and Green Force acquired the remaining 11 MW load in Roxas.
Dolor said ORMECO is operating under an emergency power supply agreement due to the cancellation of CSP proceedings in 2023 for the 41 MW power supply.
Power supply agreement obtained through a competitive selection process lasts for 15 years and will enjoy government subsidy for the entire period of the contract.
Emergency power supply agreement allows suppliers to charge consumers at the true cost of fuel at P18 per kilowatt hour.
The peak power demand for the entire province particularly during summer is 80 MW and half of it could be sourced from the additional 57 MW once they become operational, said Dolor.
ORMECO is eyeing other renewables sources of energy like solar power which is expected to lower electricity rates in residential and commercial establishments.
Oriental Mindoro Gov. Humerlito A. Dolor, younger brother of Dolor, in his message during the ceremonial awarding of the NOA at the ORMECO compound on Friday, Feb. 14, congratulated the electric cooperative for the successful bidding and thanked the power companies for investing in the province.
“Nobody else can do this other than us,” Gov. Dolor said. Also in attendance during the event was relatives of departed member-consumers who received burial assistance.
