Mayor Honey gives gifts to elderly on Valentine's Day

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan spearheaded a gift-giving activity for the elderly at the Home for the Aged on Valentine's Day.
She said she wanted to spend her day spreading love to her constituents through the distribution of financial assistance to the sick and the provision of free basic services to Tondo residents through her "Kalinga sa Maynila" program.
She was joined by Manila Vice Mayor John Marvin "Yul Servo" Nieto, in the Valentine's Gift Giving at the Home for the Aged—Luwalhati ng Maynila in Boystown, Marikina, which was held simultaneously with a dental mission in celebration of the National Oral Health Month, where she thanked the Manila Health Department-Dentists Association for helping her spread love and care for the elderly wards being housed in the city-run institution.
Meanwhile, the "Kalinga sa Maynila: CITY HALL ON THE GO" a regular program that provides free basic services to the residents, was held at the corner of Pacheco and Sta. Maria Streets in Tondo from 7 a.m. onward.
The Valentine's Day activity covered barangays 59, 63, 65, 74, and 75.
Apart from offering jobs for those who are unemployed, the "Kalinga" also provided the following services, free of charge: provision of new or replacementreplacement identification card for persons with disability, solo parents, and senior citizens, and free medical check-ups and laboratory examinations.
It also addressed birth certificate concerns, pet vaccination, free dental extraction or fluoride services, reading glasses, medicines, massage, haircuts, and TESDA training.
A day before Valentine's Day, a total of 240 residents who have cancer or are undergoing dialysis due to kidney problems were given financial assistance by Lacuna during her "People's Day" held in Manila City Hall.
"Ang People's Day ay isang programa kung saan ang mga Manileñong lumalapit sa ating tanggapan para sa kanilang mga pangangailangan tungkol sa kanilang karamdaman ay tinutugunan sa abot ng makakaya ng ating tanggapantanggapan (People's Day is a program where the people of Manila approach our office for their needs regarding their health concerns, and these are addressed to the best of our office's abilityability)," she said.
