Two congressmen have given their stamp of approval to President Marcos' fiery, pro-Filipino speeches in the ongoing campaign rallies of the administration-backed Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate.
Hailing Marcos' campaign tactic were Deputy Majority Leader La Union 1st district Rep. Paolo Ortega V and Manila 1st district Rep. Ernix Dionisio.
The Chief Executive had painted the picture of the 12-person Alyansa slate as "pro-Filipino instead of being pro-China" and "not having blood-soaked hands". He also said none of them supported Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO), which turned out to backed by syndicated crime.
"‘Yung mga pro na China ang stand nila, sabi ko dapat pro-Pinoy tayo, pro-Filipino. Kaya doon talaga ang nagustuhan ko ng part ng speech niya na ‘di ba, ‘di tayo papayag na ang ko-control sa atin ibang bansa,” Ortega said.
(To those who are pro-China, I said we should instead be pro-Pinoy, pro-Filipino. That's the part of his speech that I liked the most, we must not allow other countries control us.)
“Malakas po na message sa akin ‘yun, maliban nga sa pag-endorso ng mga kandidato na kasama namin sa alyansa. Naniniwala ako na personally ‘yan ang highlight para sa akin sa speech niya,” he noted.
(To me, that is a very strong message, aside from his endorsement of our candidates within Alyansa.)
Dionisio admitted that he was moved by the President’s call for issue-based politics.
"Actually medyo kinikilabutan ako nung pinapanood ko yung speech ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos na talagang nakita mo ‘yung stand ng mga kandidato sa alyansa very issue-based, talagang may stand sila bilang candidates eh,” Dionisio shared.
(Actually I had goosebumps when I watched President Bongbong Marcos' speech and he really epitomized the Alyansa's very issue-based stand, they really have a stand as candidates.)
Dionisio criticized candidates who rely solely on affiliations rather than clear platforms.
“Hindi kasi masyadong accepted sa akin ‘yung sinisigaw ng kandidato, 'Iboto mo ko dahil dala ko si ganItong kandidato, dahil naka-alyansa ako sa gantong partido.' (I personally don't subscribe to what other candidates are saying, 'Vote for me because I'm carried by this candidate, because I'm allied with this party.')
"I think that should not be the case,” he underscored.
President Marcos so far led Alyansa campaign rallies in Laoag City; Iloilo City; and Carmen, Davao del Norte where he all gave the impassioned speeches.
