Driver stabbed dead in Laguna

SAN PABLO CITY, Laguna â€“ A 47-year-old driver was allegedly stabbed to death by a construction worker while gambling in Barangay Santa Isabel, this city, on Thursday evening, Feb. 23.

Police identified the victim as Ronaldo M. Salvania, married.

Investigation said that Salvania was gambling when the suspect Cesarick, 23, single, arrived and stabbed the victim with a jungle bolo.

Cesarick fled and was arrested by the police in a pursuit operation.

The victim was taken to a hospital by where he was declared dead.

Police recovered the 11-inch murder weapon from the suspect. Cesarick faces a murder complaint.

Painter drowns

A 25-year-old painter drowned in a river in Barangay Cotta, Lucena City, Quezon province on Thursday.

The victim was identified as Christmer.

Police said the body of the victim was found floating on the river by a bystander.

No signs of robbery were found on the victim as his belongings were all intact.
