Over 300 cats and dogs neutered, spayed in San Juan

Around 300 cats and dogs in San Juan City were neutered and spayed during the city government's free spay and neuter event aimed at promoting responsible pet ownership among San Juaneños and control the population of stray animals in the city on Thursday, Feb. 13.

The event, dubbed as “Furry Valentine: Date with Your Pets,” was held at the Barangay Batis Multipurpose Hall and was attended by San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora and other city officials.

“This initiative is our way of protecting pets and supporting their owners. Spay and neuter services are costly in private veterinary clinics, so we hope this program helps ease the financial burden of pet care. We also want to use this opportunity to raise awareness about animal welfare in our community,” Zamora said.

Aside from the free spay and neuter procedures, the city's veterinary office also offered free consultations, anti-rabies vaccinations, microchipping, and deworming of small-breed puppies and kittens.
