More than 2,000 housing units from a condominium-type mass housing development in Palayan City in Nueva Ecija are expected to be turned over in two batches in March and July this year, the Department of Housing Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) said on Thursday, Feb. 13.

DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar said the housing units are from the 22 buildings currently being constructed in the 23-hectare development project with a target of around 6,300 housing units in Barangay Atate in Palayan City.

During Tuesday’s “Kapihan sa DHSUD: Housing Matters”, Palayan City Viandrei Nicole Cuevas expressed their gratitude for what she described as a successful implementation of the mass housing project.

She said they have already started initial turn over of housing units in the condominium-type development, and are continuously processing applicants.

By March, the DHSUD said a total of 1,076 units are set to be turned over to beneficiaries while an additional 1,076 units are also scheduled for completion and turn over in July.

“One of the biggest factors that made our township project successful was… of course, how affordable it was. We cannot do that without the partnership with the national government through the subsidy from the DHSUD,” Cuevas said.

Cuevas also emphasized the significance of the township concept, which includes essential infrastructure and amenities.

The Palayan City Township Project is open not only to the residents of Palayan City but to all interested Filipinos, citing the goal of the administration’s flagship housing program.
