Ex-president Duterte again brings up PBBM's alleged drug addiction at PDP-Laban proclamation rally
Once again, former president Rodrigo Duterte brought up the issue of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. being addicted to illegal drugs.
The former leader again raised the issue about Marcos’ alleged addiction to heroin during the proclamation rally of the senatorial candidates of the Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) party at the Club Filipino in San Juan City on Thursday, February 13.
“Merong isang presidente na talagang bangag. (May) buang, pero ‘yung bisyo ng droga long term ‘yan. Maging ulol si Marcos (There’s one president who is really high on drugs. There’s someone crazy, but drug addiction is long-term. Marcos will end up crazy),” Duterte said in his speech at the kick off rally where he endorsed the PDP-Laban senatorial slate.
Duterte, who in 2016, admitted to taking the highly addictive synthetic opioid fentanyl for pain relief, further expressed his belief that Marcos may no longer be moving by the time he reaches the age of 80.
“Maybe constant use of heroin—aabot pa siguro siya ng 80, pero sa panahon na ‘yan, hindi na siya gumagalaw (maybe he wil reach the age of 80, but by that time, he’s no longer moving),” he said.
“Either nakatindig lang yan sa kwarto niya or natutulog (Either he is just standing inside his room or sleeping),” he added.
In November of last year, Duterte had challenged the military to “protect the Constitution” when he asked them until when do they want to support a president who is a drug addict.
Duterte had repeatedly dared Marcos to undergo a drug test in public to prove he is not a drug user.
This, despite the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)’s denial of Duterte’s claim that Marcos was part of an anti-drug watch list.
