CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City – Twenty-nine individuals, including three uniformed personnel and one security guard, were apprehended by the Police Regional Office-10 from Jan. 12 to Feb. 12 for violating the election gun ban implemented by the Commission on Elections in Northern Mindanao.

PRO 10-Regional Public Information Office chief Police Major Joann G. Navarro said that 28 firearms were seized.
“The intensified gun ban implementation included checkpoint operations, police response and patrol operations, and other law enforcement operations implemented by the different units of PRO-10,” Navarro said.
Checkpoints resulted in the arrest of eight individuals and the seizure of seven firearms, along with 81 rounds of ammunition, she said.
Separate police operations also led to the arrest of 21 violators and the confiscation of 21 firearms and 148 rounds of ammunition, the RPIO-10 chief added.
PRO-10 Director Police Brig. Gen. Jaysen C. de Guzman underscored the significance of strictly enforcing the election gun ban to prevent election-related violence and ensure public safety.
“We remain steadfast in our duty to enforce the election gun ban and uphold the integrity of the democratic process,” he said.
“The results of our operations demonstrate our dedication to keeping our communities safe and preventing unlawful possession of firearms.”
“We urge everyone to adhere to the regulations set by the Comelec and report any suspicious activities,” De Guzman added.
Navarro said PRO-10 continues to intensify its monitoring efforts, with more operations planned throughout the election period.
“The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and support law enforcement in maintaining peace and order in the region,” Navarro said. “For reports on violations of the election gun ban, the public may contact the nearest police station."
