Woman shoved by Taguig police shares her harrowing experience
A woman who was seen in a CCTV footage being shoved by a Taguig policeman narrated her harrowing experience.
Nine members of the Taguig Police were relieved and are being investigated after a viral video showed them entering a house and variety store in Barangay Napindan on Feb. 9.
In a statement, the Taguig Police, headed by Col. Joey Goforth, said the nine police officers were relieved from their duties, disarmed, and will be charged.
“The Taguig City Police Station strongly condemns any form of abuse, especially when committed by those entrusted with the duty to serve and protect. Upholding the highest standards of law enforcement, we will not tolerate any misconduct within our ranks,” the Taguig Police said.

It added, “Following the release of a video exposing police misconduct involving personnel from Sub-Station 5, criminal and administrative charges are being filed against the nine implicated officers. These individuals have been relieved from duty, disarmed, and stripped of their Philippine National Police identification cards as the investigation moves forward. To ensure impartiality, the commander of Sub-Station 5 has also been relieved of his post.”
The Taguig Police did not release the names of the nine police officers who were relieved.
In a CCTV footage posted on Facebook, members of the Taguig Police entered a house and a variety store in Barangay Napindan.
One of them shoved a woman and took her cell phone. They were also seen trying to apprehend a young man.
The mother accused the policemen of taking money from her store, room, and e-wallet account.
A cop also showed the woman a document, which she said was a warrant of arrest but it did not have the signature of a judge.
“May warrant ka, may warrant ka. Bakit ganyan ang warrant ninyo walang pirma ng judge? (You have a warrant, you have a warrant. Why is your warrant like that, without a judge's signature?),” the mother said, News5’s “Frontline Pilipinas” reported.
She said she was dragged into a police car.
“Naging hysterical na po ako. Talagang pilit nila akong pinoposasan (I became hysterical. They're really trying to handcuff me),” she added.
She said when the cops saw the CCTV camera, they took it.
According to the woman, she and her son agreed to go with the police to the Barangay Napindan hall. Her daughter also went with them.
But when the police car did not go to the barangay hall, she jumped from the police car. Another video showed her jumping from the vehicle and going inside the barangay hall.
“Aba nakita ko nilagpas na ho sa barangay. Hindi totoong barangay. Tumalon po ako (Well, I saw that it had already passed the barangay. We weren't going to the barangay so I jumped),” she said. Her daughter also jumped from the police vehicle.
Personnel from the barangay took them to a hospital.
The mother said the police apologized to her and said they committed a mistake in their operation. The police returned her belongings but not her money, she said.
She fears that the police officers involved might retaliate against her family.
In the statement, the Taguig Police said it is committed “to upholding justice and ensuring that all police operations adhere to the Revised Philippine National Police Operational Procedures.”
“Officers have been reminded of the proper protocols concerning searches, arrests, and the handling of minors in police operations to guarantee that the rights of every citizen are protected. Any violation of these principles will not be tolerated, and appropriate legal action will be taken against those responsible,” it said.
