Ulsan humbles Quiambao, Goyang in KBL

The Mobis Phoebus turned on the jets in the second half where they hiked the lead to 29, 96-67, and completely broke the game wide open.

Shawn Long paced Ulsan with 26 points on top of eight rebounds while Woo Seok Lee and Gaige Prim provided the support as they added 22 and 14 points, respectively. Migs Oczon tallied a quiet three points and two assists.

On the other hand, D.J. Burns topscored with 20 points which was backed by Lim Dong-Seop and Alpha Kaba who finished with 13 and 12 points. Kevin Quiambao impressed anew with 10 points, six rebounds, six assists, and one steal.

Despite the loss, Quiambao marked his sixth consecutive game with a double-digit output which was highlighted by a career-high 36 points in their win over the Wonju DB Promy, 86-82, last Feb. 2.

Following the victory, Ulsan hiked its record to 24-14 at second place while Goyang endured its 26th loss with 12 wins and further fell in the standings.

The Skygunners dropped the early bombs in the first two minutes of the game, but their promising start turned into a disaster as the Phoebus went off to a blistering 20-7 blast to end the opening canto with a 30-18 lead.

That set the stage for Ulsan to shift its gears in the next three frames, leaving Goyang struggling and unable to secure its first back-to-back win since midway of December 2024.

Meanwhile, Carl Tamayo and the Changwon LG Sakers (23-14) shoot for their third win in a row when they challenge the streaking and league-leading Seoul SK Knights (31-7) later Wednesday, Feb. 12.

Heading into their clash, the Sakers were fresh from twin victories over the Busan KCC Egis (15-23) while the Knights marched on with a six-game running streak.
