Rider crashes into LTO enforcer while trying to escape in Antipolo for not wearing helmet
A motorcycle rider is now detained and facing criminal charges after he hit an enforcer of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) while trying to escape for not wearing a helmet in Antipolo City.
And it was indeed a bad day for Roger Ymas after he allegedly yielded sachets of shabu when he was turned over to the Antipolo City police after he was arrested when he crashed his motorcycle.
LTO chief, Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza II said he already ordered the agency’s regional office to ensure that all the criminal and administrative charges would be slapped against the Ymas for putting an LTO enforcer’s life to risk.
“One of the conditions set in getting a driver’s license is to respect law enforcers. This incident is clearly a case of disrespecting not only the enforcer but also our laws,” said Mendoza.
Based on the report, Ymas was flagged down in front of the St. Anthony Parish Church on Marcos Highway in Antipolo City on Feb. 8 as the enforcer noticed that he was not wearing a helmet.
But instead of stopping, Ymas allegedly maneuvered his motorcycle on his way to escape but hit the enforcer in the process. He was arrested after he crashed on the road.
The sachets seized from him during the search tested positive for shabu.
