Negros Occidental barangay holds first-ever lechon manok festival
BACOLOD CITY – Barangay Montilla in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental held its first-ever native lechon manok (roasted chicken) and food festival in celebration of their 67th founding anniversary and in support of their primary product.

Barangay Montilla Councilor Romulo Fajardo Jr. said that the festival’s concept dubbed Barrio Fiesta aims to showcase the abundance of native chicken and other local products in the barangay.
Residents and tourists gathered at the Barangay Montilla auditorium on Feb. 11 to celebrate the event led by Barangay Chairman Nenita Alconera.
Purok Paho topped the native lechon manok competition and was the overall champion among nine participating puroks. Purok Lubi won the table setting contest.
Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo backed the event and lauded the barangay for their effort in promoting their product.
The event concluded with a performance from local band Estrella and a live DJ entertained the crowd.
