The Malabon City government conducted a simultaneous clean-up drive in different parts of the city last Friday, Feb. 7, amid the increase in the number of dengue cases.

"Kalusugan pa rin ang ating prayoridad dahil ito ang siyang pinakauna na kailangan nating mapangalagaan at mapanatili para sa bawat residente sa lungsod sa ating patuloy na pag-unlad. At ngayon na may mga balitang pagtaas ng kaso ng dengue sa iba't ibang lungsod ay nakahanda po tayo para kaligtasan ng bawat mamamayan. Nagsasagawa po tayo ng mga clean-up drives upang masiguro na ang mga lamok na pinanggagalingan ng sakit na ito ay hindi mamamahay sa mga lugar sa ating lungsod (Health is still our priority because it is the first thing that we need to take care of and maintain for every resident in the city. And with the reported increase in dengue cases in different cities, we are ready for the safety of every citizen. We are conducting clean-up drives to ensure that the mosquitoes that cause this disease do not live in areas of our city),” Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said.
Sandoval urged the Malabueños to maintain the cleanliness in their homes to prevent dengue.
"Kasabay nito ay ang ating patuloy na paghikayat sa ating mga kababayan na sumama sa atin upang mapigilan ang pagdami ng kaso dengue at masiguro na tayo ay ligtas at masayang mamumuhay sa ating lungsod (At the same time, we continue to encourage our countrymen to join us in our efforts to prevent the increase in dengue cases and ensure that we live safely and happily in our city),” she said.
According to the City Health Department (CHD), 151 dengue cases were recorded in the city from January 1 to February 1, 2025.
Barangay Longos has the highest number of cases with 29 suspected dengue infections, while Barangays Flores, Acacia, Muzon, and Bayan-bayanan have one case each.
Over 260 city personnel, led by the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), carried out clean-up operations in key areas with the highest reported dengue cases.
These included Magsaysay and S. Pascual Streets in Barangay San Agustin, C. Perez Street and Palmario II in Barangay Tonsuya, and Sampaguita Street in Barangay Potrero. These areas were identified as dengue “hot spots” due to consecutive weeks of multiple reported cases.
CENRO reported the collection of 1,590 sacks of waste from these areas, including plastic materials, wooden sticks, and candy wrappers.
The CHD also reminded residents to follow the 4S Strategy to prevent dengue:
Search and Destroy breeding sites
Secure Self-Protection
Support Fogging and Spraying
Seek Early Consultation
"Sa ating patuloy na pagsasagawa ng mga aktibidad para sa kalinisan ay ang ating patuloy na pagpapaalala sa ating mga kababayang Malabueno na mag-ingat at maging responsable pagdating sa kanilang kapaligiran. Panatilihing malinis at maaliwalas upang and ating kalusugan ay mapangalagaan (In our ongoing activities for cleanliness, we are constantly reminding our fellow Malabuenos to be careful, and be responsible when it comes to their environment. Keep it clean, and airy for our health)," City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete said.
Another simultaneous clean-up drive is scheduled for Friday, February 14.
