Flying Titans, HD Spikers out to bolster playoff bids

Sporting identical 6-3 records at third place along with the PLDT High Speed Hitters, a victory for both the Flying Titans and the HD Spikers would solidify their seat inside the Top 4 and inch closer to second-running Petro Gazz Angels (8-1).

However, Choco Mucho is not taking its 4 p.m. tussle with Nxled lightly after the Chameleons finally discovered their winning form and clinched their first-ever victory against the Galeries Tower Highrisers over the weekend for 1-8.

The Flying Titans are not relying solely on one person to spearhead the crew, although Sisi Rondina has been consistently providing solid numbers including in their recent four-set triumph over the Akari Chargers where the high-flying spiker pumped in 18 points.

“Yun nga, teamwork. Hindi naman kasi isang tao lang makakapanalo ng game… Happy, kasi unti-unti, we're reaching the goal na gusto naming marating, so masaya kami na ganito,” said Choco Mucho setter Deanna Wong, referring to their four-game winning streak.

Dindin Manabat, Isa Molde and Chery Nunag form the Flying Titans’ formidable frontline, where they will be challenged by the Chameleons’ determined crew in Chiara Permentilla, May Luna, Jaycel delos Reyes and Lycha Ebon.

Nxled coach Ettore Guidetti hopes to see his stalwarts display the same firepower they did the last time to keep the momentum going.

“In the beginning, honestly, there was a big gap between us and some of the other teams. Right now, we’ve shortened the gap and I was really waiting for the day that finally we can click and win a very high and difficult set. Thank God that day has come. That day is today, so we are looking for more in the next game and to show everyone that this is nothing but the beginning,” said Guidetti after earning their first win.

Meanwhile, Cignal battles ZUS Coffee at 6:30 p.m. with the HD Spikers hoping to also carry the momentum of their dominant victory over Capital1 after back-to-back defeats.

The Thunderbelles, for their part, seek to hike their 4-5 slate.
