Double whammy: Construction worker dies after being hit by MPV, run over by truck in Antipolo
A 35-year-old construction worker died after being hit by a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and run over by a 16-wheeler truck while crossing a street in Antipolo City on Tuesday, Feb. 11.

Based on the close-circuit television (CCTV) footage, the victim was crossing Antipolo-Teresa Road to buy food for breakfast when a white multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) hit him, causing him to fall into the opposite lane.
The victim was then run over by an approaching 16-wheeler truck, causing severe head injuries that resulted in his immediate death.
A witness stated that the MPV that hit the victim was moving fast.
"Wala naman po masyadong sasakyan, kumbaga mabilis lang po yung takbo nung Innova na 'yun (There weren't many vehicles, the Innova was just speeding)," she said.
Authorities said the truck driver voluntarily surrendered.
Antipolo City Mayor Jun Ynares added that the driver is now detained and facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
Meanwhile, the victim's family is seeking justice and is calling on the driver of the MPV that hit the victim to surrender.
Antipolo police are still searching for the MPV driver, who will face the same charges as the truck driver.
