Bahala na Gang member arrested for multiple crimes in Malate, Manila


A 20-year-old gang member was arrested after causing a series of disturbances that alarmed residents in Singalong Street near the corner of San Andres Street in Malate, Manila.

The suspect was identified as Damil Anthony Wakay, a member of the Bahala Na Gang and a resident of Tuazon Street in Malate.

According to the police report, Wakay was arrested at around 11 p.m. on Feb. 11, following reports from an anonymous concerned citizen. 

Upon arriving at the scene, the police observed the suspect shouting, engaging in a heated argument with bystanders, and destroying objects in the vicinity.

Despite efforts from the arresting officers to deescalate the situation, the suspect became increasingly unruly and violently resisted arrest.

Cpl. Jose Mari Villar and Pat. Clint Rainier Perez of the Paco Police Community Precinct (PCP) were able to subdue Wakay after a brief negotiation. 

Police confiscated an improvised firearm and a live ammunition round from the suspect.

The suspect will face charges for violation of Article 155 of the Revised Penal Code for Alarms and Scandal, Republic Act 10591 (the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), and BP 881, the Omnibus Election Code.
