Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. It’s one of the few special occasions you can set aside time to step up the romance between you and your partner. Or if you’re spending this year alone, it’s the go-to day for self care and perhaps finding others seeking connections. For those of you looking for ways to spend the holiday of love, here are five sweet locations worth dropping by.

 

National Museum of Arts and the National Museum of Natural History

When out on a date, why not learn something as well? A visit to the National Museum of Arts gives a wonderful look into our country’s artists. It lets viewers soak in the rich culture of our history. Upon entry, Juan Luna’s Spoliarium in all its grandeur is enough to stand in front of and marvel over for as long as you both can. Had your fill of the arts? Cross over to the National Museum of Natural History where you can discover all of our country’s natural beauty. Worth checking out are the taxidermied skin and the hanging bone display of Lolong’s remains.

When was the last time you had a picnic with that special someone? Cook up and prepare a meal together and set up a nice picnic over at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City. Worth checking out as well are the Presidential Car Museum housing several vehicles used by our former presidents and the Museo ni Manuel L. Quezon located directly at the base of the Quezon Memorial Shrine. There are also wide lanes for a lovely stroll in the park or a leisurely-paced bike ride.

Fans of the alternative scene have always touted Cubao Expo as the place to be. It’s the perfect place to explore old antiquities with your date, stop for some coffee, or get a kick out of various alcoholic drinks from the colorful cafes and bars surrounding the area. Music lovers can also enjoy the many vinyl records being sold in some of the shops. Just around the corner, another museum worth diving into is the interactive Art in Island Museum where you can take photos within three-dimensional paintings and murals.

Looking for a nice date spot not too far from the Metro? Just a short road trip away into Antipolo City is the Pintô Art Museum. Here you’ll find a mix of contemporary art that’ll make your mind wander into one’s creative spirit. You’ll find it a refreshing place to visit due to the abundance of trees and plants, most notably the arboretum which hosts several species of indigenous plants. Plus, there are several Instagram-worthy spots for all your couple photo needs. If you’re getting hungry, the food is also a must-try.

Nothing screams romance more than watching the sun setting slowly by the horizon and disappears along the gentle waves of the bay. Picture yourselves just sitting together as the lights start to dim and the night sky starts to take over. It’s the perfect time to hold your partner close by and tell them how they make you feel.
