Filipino freestyle skier Laetaz Amihan Rabe finished last in the women's freeski slopestyle event at the 9th Winter Asian Games on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at the Freeski Slopestyle Stadium in Yabuli, China.
The Geneva-based 15-year-old athlete, the youngest among the six competitors, tallied 56.50 points for fifth spot in the first run of the event finals. She, however, failed to improve in her next two runs and dropped to last place.
China’s Liu Mengteng claimed gold in the competition with a score of 94.00, followed by fellow Chinese freestyle skiers Yang Ruyi (90.50) and Han Linshan (87.00) who placed second and third, respectively.

In the women’s curling team event, the Philippine bowed to Kazakhstan in a tight match, 5-4, on Tuesday morning, at the Harbin Pingfang Curling Arena.
Holding a record of 2-2, the Filipinos look to return to winning form in their next match against the winless Thailand on Tuesday night, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m.
Meanwhile, Isabella Marie Gamez and Aleksandr Korovin qualified for the final of the pair free skating program set on Wednesday after finishing fourth with 55.63 points. Uzbekistan’s Ekaterina Geynish and Dmitri Chigirev topped the short free skate program at the HIC Multifunctional Hall with 58.49 points.
