Mayor Abby urges senators to be impartial amid VP Sara's impeachment

Makati City Mayor and senatorial aspirant Abby Binay called on senators to be impartial regarding the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte by the House of Representatives last Feb. 5.
Binay made the statement during a press conference by her party Alyansa Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
She said it would be “premature” and “unfair” for the candidates to state their position on the Vice President's impeachment.
“Personally, wala po akong kopya ng articles of impeachment to be able to read the complaint. So, it is very, very premature and unfair to give a position on the impeachment this early (Personally, I do not have a copy of the articles of impeachment to be able to read the complaint. So it is very very premature and unfair to give a position on the impeachment this early)," Binay explained, as she urged senators to be impartial about it as they will sit as judges in the impeachment.
“I think because we as senators will be judges. So, we will have to be impartial. To answer the question will give a premature position,” the local chief executive stressed.
In September last year, the mayor made it to the Magic 12 of the administration's senatorial lineup for the midterm elections this coming May.
The administration slate also includes former Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Sec. Benhur Abalos, Sen. Pia Cayetano, former Sen. Ping Lacson, Sen. Lito Lapid, Sen. Imee Marcos, former Sen. Manny Pacquiao, Sen. Bong Revilla, former Senate Pres. Tito Sotto, Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino, Rep. Erwin Tulfo, and House Deputy Speaker Camille Villar.
