No tokhang, no false prophet, no pro-China aggression, no POGO advocate: Marcos vouches for admin-backed Senate slate

President Marcos kicked off with a strong start in campaigning for the administration-backed Senate slate as he vouched for the candidates by taking a swipe at the previous Duterte administration.

Marcos candidly made statements mentioning issues of corruption, negligence, and the infamous "Oplan Tokhang" drug war operation that were allegedly made in the previous administration, pointing out that none of their candidates were associated in such activities.

No one from the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas—the new UniTeam—will ever venture in that method of leadership, Marcos said, convincing the people to support the slate composed of mostly former public officials who have held either local or national positions in the past.

"Wala sa kanila ang may bahid ng dugo dahil sa Tokhang (Nobody from the alliance has blood in their hands due to Tokhang)," Marcos said in his close to 15-minute speech during the proclamation rally of the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte on Tuesday night, Feb. 11.

"Wala sa kanila ang kasabwat sa pagbulsa ng saku-sakong pera, pinagsamantalahan ang krisis ng pandemya, pinabayaan ang ating mga kababayan na magkasakit at mamatay (Nobody from them was an accomplice in pocketing sacks of money, taking advantage of the crisis during the pandemic, neglecting the people who fell sick and died)," Marcos added.

He further took pride in the administration slate by pointing out that none of them would glorify China in their aggressions in the Philippine waters, putting in danger the country's vessels and Filipino fishermen.

"Wala sa kanila ang mga pumapalakpak sa Tsina at natutuwa pa kapag tayo ay binobomba ng tubig, tinatamaan ang ating mga Coast Guard, hinaharang ang ating mga mangingisda, ninanakaw ang kanilang huli at bukod pa ro'n ay inaagaw ang mga isla natin para maging bahagi ng kanilang bansa (Nobody from them would clap for China and be happy whenever our Coast Guard takes the hit from the water cannons, for blocking our fishermen, for taking away their catch, and for taking our islands to be part of their country)," Marcos stressed.

The President also strongly vouched that the alliance's candidates would not engage in abuse towards children and women. No one from them is involved in the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) operations, he added.

"Wala po sa kanila ang tilang sakristan ng isang bulaang propeta na nasasakdal dahil sa pagyurak sa ating kabataan at sa ating kababaihan. Wala sa kanila ang tagataguyod ng pugad ng krimen, ng sentro ng paglalapastangan ng mga kababaihan na mga POGO (Nobody from them acts like a false prophet charged for violating our youth and women. No one from them is an advocate of a den of crimes, center of abuse against women that is POGO)," Marcos pointed out.

'Let's not go back to the past'

Encouraging the people to choose leaders that would not foster crimes and corruption, Marcos believed the Philippines has had enough with it.

He asked the people: "Should we go back to the times when our leaders want the Philippines to be a province of China? Should we go back to the past when our country became a gambling hub for foreigners?"

"Nais ba nating bumalik sa landas na umaapaw sa dugo ng mga inosenteng mga bata na inagaw ang kanilang – na inagaw sa kanilang mga ina? Kinuha sa kanilang mga tahanan at inagaw ang kanilang kinabukasan (Do we want to go back to that path of overflowing blood of innocent children who was taken away from their mothers, from their homes, whose future where taken away)?" the President further asked.

"Walang nagnanais na Pilipino na mabalik tayo sa ganyang klaseng pagpatakbo (No Filipino dreams to go back to that kind of governance)," he said.

He wooed the people by saying that the administration slate has the experience, and he has confidence in them that they will never be part of any activity of corruption and crime.

The Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas, also called as "Alyansa", is composed of five leading political parties in the country, namely the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD), Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), Nacionalista Party (NP), and National Unity Party (NUP).
