According to the truck driver, the e-bike rider allegedly cut his path while traversing Sgt. Rivera Street. This made him blow the horn at the e-bike driver which reportedly triggered the road rage.
“Nung tinanong natin itong victim, sumingit itong e-bike, naunahan siya. Ang ginawa nitong truck driver binusinahan nang binusinahan, nairita itong naka e-bike kaya hinarang siya doon, nagkaroon sila ng commotion (The victim stated that the e-bike driver cut his path. This made him blow his horn repeatedly at the e-bike driver. This annoyed the e-bike rider, resulting to a commotion),” QCPD Police Station 1 Commander Police Lieutenant Gilbert Cruz said.
The truck driver also claimed that the e-bike rider punched him before he was able to record the incident.
After the video went viral, the police were able to identify the e-bike driver but he had gone into hiding.
“Na-identify natin. Ang problema, nagtatago siya ngayon. Kinakausap namin ang magulang na lumutang para malaman natin yung side niya (We have identified them. The problem is, they are now hiding from authorities. We’re convincing the parents to talk to us so we can hear his side),” Cruz said.
Cruz added that the e-bike rider was joined by his wife in hiding.
The police reminded motorists to remain cool headed to prevent road rage incidents.
Meanwhile, the truck driver refused to talk to the media after the viral incident as advised by his company.
