7 planets align in stunning celestial event this February

Stargazers are in for a rare treat this month, as the night sky will showcase a stunning alignment of seven planets—Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in its February astronomical diary.
Leading up to the alignment, PAGASA said Venus, Jupiter, and Mars will be visible to the naked eye throughout the month.
These planets will shine brightly as dusk transitions to night and remain visible in the western sky until they set below the horizon.
Saturn will also be visible at the start of the month, though it will lie low in the sky and gradually fade from view as the month progresses.
The parade of planets—Saturn, Neptune, Venus, Uranus, Jupiter, and Mars—will remain visible until around Feb. 20.
The alignment of all seven planets begins on Feb. 21, when Mercury joins the planetary parade, completing this rare formation.
The alignment will remain visible until Feb. 28.
While Venus, Jupiter, and Mars will be visible to the naked eye, PAGASA said Saturn and Mercury will be more challenging to spot due to their low positions on the horizon.
Neptune and Uranus, though part of the alignment, will require telescopes or high-powered binoculars for a clear view, it added.
The last seven-planet alignment was on June 24-July 5, 2022.
The next planetary alignment will occur on Aug. 29, 2025, involving six planets—Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
