The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, Feb. 11 said scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected to persist over parts of the country in the next 24 hours due to the shear line, easterlies, and northeast monsoon.

The shear line—a weather system formed by the collision of cold winds from the northeast monsoon (amihan) and warm breezes from the Pacific Ocean (easterlies)—will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms to the Visayas, Bicol Region, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Quezon, and Aurora.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms may also affect Caraga and Davao Region due to the easterlies.

Likewise, cloudy skies with rains are expected to persist over Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Central Luzon.

PAGASA warned residents affected by the three weather systems to remain vigilant for possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon and Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the amihan and easterlies, respectively.
