Toyomota Auto Supply successfully retained its crown in convincing fashion in the Smart-NBTC Mindanao Regional Championship after its 21-point thrashing of the Notre Dame of Midsayap Rams, 84-63, on Sunday, Feb. 9, at the Oroquieta City Bayfront Arena in Misamis Occidental.
Karlo Caezar Estomo tallied a double-double output of 32 points and 10 rebounds in the Finals -- enough to earn him the Most Outstanding Player plum as well as a spot in the Mythical Team in the Mindanao Regional.
In a losing effort, Mythical Five member Kurt John Bustamante tried to carry his team after only reaching the semifinals last year, pacing the Cotabato-based squad with 16 points, three boards, and three assists.
Both finalists secured their place in the highly anticipated 2025 Smart-NBTC National Finals which will showcase the talents of several elite Filipino squads and will be held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena from March 31 to April 6.
After prevailing in the Regional Wildcard, Cagayan de Oro’s Toyland Bistro and Davao City’s AGCCI also booked their tickets to the National Finals.
Four more slots for the Madness in MOA will be up for grabs in the Visayas Regional Championship set to take place from Feb. 27 to March 2 at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.
