Moderate to heavy rains to persist over several areas until February 12

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned on Monday, Feb. 10 that rains due to the shear line may continue to affect parts of the country over the next three days.

The shear line is a weather system formed by colliding cold winds from the amihan and warm winds from the Pacific Ocean (easterlies).

On Monday, moderate to heavy rains may affect Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, Biliran, and Leyte.

By Tuesday, Feb. 11, moderate to heavy rainfall may persist over Aurora, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, and Sorsogon.

By Wednesday, Feb. 12, moderate to heavy precipitation will prevail over Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, and Camarines Norte.

PAGASA warned that localized flooding is possible, especially in urbanized, low-lying, and river-adjacent areas.

Landslides are also possible in highly susceptible areas.

Over the next 24 hours, PAGASA also warned that scattered rains and thunderstorms may affect Caraga due to the easterlies.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Central Luzon will experience cloudy skies and rain due to the amihan.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains may prevail over the rest of Luzon due to the amihan and the rest of Mindanao due to the easterlies.
