President Marcos has appointed two new commissioners of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) a day before the start of the campaign period for the 2025 national elections.

Marcos has designated lawyer Ma. Norina Tangaro-Casingal as Ad Interim commissioner of the poll body for a term expiring on Feb. 2, 2032.
Casingal replaced outgoing Comelec commissioner Socorro Inting, who has retired after her seven-year term.
Marcos made the appointment on Feb. 10, a day before the campaign period begins.
Casingal served as the director of the Comelec Legal Department prior to her appointment as commissioner.
The President also appointed Atty. Noli Rafol Pipo as Comelec commissioner, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said on Monday, Feb. 10.
Pipo served as the Regional Election director of the poll body prior to becoming Comelec commissioner.
Pipo has also held several Comelec positions since 1993 such as Election Officer III in Bangued, Abra from 1993 to 1996; Provincial Election supervisor of Ilocos Norte from 1996 to 2004; Assistant Regional Election director from 2004 to 2006.
