Ilocos Sur motorcycle rider killed in crash during race

SANTA CATALINA, Ilocos Sur – A motorcycle rider was killed in a crash during a motor racing event on the diversion road in Barangay Paratong here on Sunday, Feb. 9.

Police identified the victim as Richmond F. Pablico, 22, a resident of Barangay Balaleng Amianance, Bantay, Ilocos Sur.

Investigation said Pablico lost control over the handlebar of his modular drag bike and crashed on the pavement upon finishing the race in the Ilocos Sur Festival 2025 Motor Racing Open 2T category. Pablico sustained serious injuries and was declared dead in a hospital.

The race organizer, the provincial government of Ilocos Sur, condoled with Pablico’s family.

“Motoracing 2025 incident is truly heartbreaking. The Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur expresses its deepest sympathies to the family of the participant. The provincial government is currently attending to the Pablico family’s needs,” it said.

Organizers canceled the event after the incident.
