Complaints against firemen involved in illegal activities can now be coursed through online with the launching of e-reklamo portal, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said on Monday, Feb. 10.

BFP officer-in-charge (OIC) Chief Supt. Jesus P. Fernandez said grievances against erring fire personnel may be transmitted conveniently as the “E-Reklamo portal’’ upholds the integrity of the Philippine fire service “to a high degree.’’

“E-Reklamo portal is now available for our citizens. All information submitted through the portal will be treated with utmost confidentiality. Your feedback is valuable for a more trusted Bureau of Fire Protection,’’ Fernandez said.

Earlier, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito “Jonvic’’ Remulla vowed to dismiss on the spot fire personnel involved in any form of corrupt acts like selling fire extinguishers to entrepreneurs securing fire safety clearances for their business.

“Bawal magbenta ng fire extinguisher ang mga fire marshall at kung may ganon ireport n’yo kaagad sa akin (The fire marshall is prohibited from selling fire extinguishers and if there is any, report to me immediately),’’ Remulla assured.

Remulla added that BFP bidding procedures will also undergo adjustments to allow more bidders to participate.

"So, from two suppliers, gagawin naming ten suppliers as long as kaya nilang mag-fulfill ng supply at the best possible price, at the same specs – from 15 million, ibababa namin to 8 million dahil bubuksan na namin iyong bidding supply, iyong bidding contracts (So, from two supplies,we will accommodate 10 suppliers as long as they can fulfill the supply at the best possible price at the same specs-from P15 million, we willpower the cost at P8 million since we will open the bidding supply, the bidding contracts),’’ he added.
