With about four months remaining before the May 2025 senatorial election, nearly half of Filipino registered voters inclined to vote, as well as those undecided about casting their ballots, have named 12 of their preferred senatorial candidates (50 percent), based on a Pulse Asia non-commissioned survey released on Monday, Feb. 10.
The survey, conducted from Jan. 18 to 25, found that “small to huge majorities” in the Visayas (64 percent), Mindanao (72 percent), and Class E (52 percent) have a complete slate for the May 2025 senatorial election.
Meanwhile, only about a third of voters in the rest of Luzon (33 percent) have expressed support for 12 candidates for the senate (out of a maximum of 12).
Overall, Pulse Asia explained that registered voters are identifying a mean of nine and a median of 11 senatorial candidates they are inclined to support in May 2025.
Across geographic areas and socio-economic classes, mean figures range from seven to 11, while median figures range from eight to 12.
Rep. Tulfo tops survey results
Of the 66 senatorial candidates running in the approaching elections, Pulse Asia said 14 have a statistical chance of winning if the May 2025 polls were held during the survey period.
Apart from broadcaster Ben Tulfo and television personality Willie Revillame, all of the probable winners are eitherincumbent or former members of Congress.
Furthermore, 10 candidates with a statistical chance of winning are running under the national administration’s “Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas” coalition.
Currently in the lead is ACT-CIS Party-List Rep. Erwin Tulfo, whose overall voter preference of 62.8 percent gives him a statistical ranking of solo first place.
Occupying second-third ranking is Senator Christopher Go (50.4 percent), while close behind him is former Senate President Vicente Sotto III (50.2 percent, second-fourth).
Ben Tulfo is ranked in third-eighth (46.2 percent).
Sharing fourth-eighth places are Senator Pia Cayetano (46.1 percent) and Senator Ramon Revilla Jr. (46 percent), while Senator Imee Marcos (43.4 percent) and former Senator Panfilo Lacson (42.4 percent) both have statistical rankings of fourth-12th places.
Completing the list of probable winners are Revillame (41.9 percent, seventh-13th places); Senator Ronald dela Rosa (41.2 percent, seventh-14th places); Makati City Mayor Marlen Abigail Binay (41.1 percent, seventh-14th places); former Senator Emmanuel Pacquiao (40.6 percent, seventh-14th places); Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar (38.4 percent, ninth-14th places); and Senator Manuel Lapid (37.7 percent, 10th-14th places).
Pulse Asia also noted that 3.1 percent of registered voters remain undecided about their senatorial choices.
The rest of the country’s registered voters either do not have any preferred senatorial candidates (2.5 percent) or refuse to say whom they are voting for in the May 2025 senatorial election (1.7 percent).
The survey fieldwork was conducted through face-to-face interviews with a nationwide sample of 2,400 representative adults aged 18 and above and has a ± 2 percent margin of error at the 95 percent confidence level.
