Megaworld is set to expand its township developments in Luzon and Visayas, adding at least two new projects covering more than 300 hectares. These townships will integrate residential, commercial, and leisure spaces, continuing the company's push for urban growth outside Metro Manila.
Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso, president of Megaworld, was recently recognized as the only Filipino in Forbes’ “50 Over 50” global list for her leadership and advocacy for gender equality. She shared how these expansions are more than just real estate ventures—they are engines of growth. “As we work towards helping cities grow their local economies and provide job opportunities, we are focused on further expanding our township portfolio in the regions. These two townships have expansive land areas which will further boost our land bank,” she said.
This expansion follows a pattern of strategic growth. Last year, Megaworld unveiled four townships, each carving a unique identity in its respective locale. Lialto Golf and Beach Estates in Lian, Batangas, blends the serenity of coastal living with the prestige of a golf community. San Benito Private Estate in Lipa, Batangas, offers a lush retreat that echoes the wellness culture of the area. Ilocandia Coastown in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, embraces the charm of the north with a mix of heritage and modernity. The Upper Central in Cagayan de Oro City rises as a new urban center in Mindanao, promising economic dynamism and lifestyle sophistication.
Across the country, Megaworld's footprint tells a story of transformation. Today, 69% of its townships thrive in the provinces, fostering new commercial hubs and tourism destinations. In Luzon alone, 16 developments redefine local economies. The Visayas hosts six thriving townships, while Mindanao sees two emerging cities under Megaworld’s blueprint.
Kevin Tan, president and CEO of Alliance Global Group, the parent company of Megaworld, highlighted the role these developments play in the broader vision of tourism and economic progress. "Aligned with Alliance Global Group’s vision on tourism, many of these Megaworld townships are drivers of tourism in their respective locations. We build hotels, museums, resorts, malls, sports and leisure facilities, and many other attractions within our townships to support our country’s tourism industry."
For Megaworld, every township is more than just a collection of buildings—it’s a commitment to economic growth and community development. With each expansion, the company strengthens its role in shaping the future of urban living in the Philippines.
