
The Mandaluyong City government on Saturday, Feb. 1, kicked off its week-long activities in celebration of its 80th Liberation Day and 31st Cityhood Anniversary, commemorating the city's freedom from the grasp of the Japanese occupants during World War II and its being named as a city by the national government in 1994.
Mayor Ben Abalos, Vice Mayor Menchie Abalos, and other members of the city government spearheaded today's activities with the Liberation Fun-Run held at the City Hall Grounds, where hundreds of runners participated in the 3 km event. It was then followed by a Fitness Caravan and Dance for Liberation program in Barangay Addition Hills.



On Feb. 2, a Thanksgiving Mass will be held at the Aglipay Church, followed by a parade featuring dozens of Sto. Niños, which will pass through Barangays Poblacion, Hagdan Bato Itaas, Daang Bakal, Pag-Asa, Burol, and Harapin ang Bukas.
The inaugural blessing of the Senate President Neptali A. Gonzales Integrated School (SPNAGIS) in Barangay Mauway will be conducted on Feb. 3 as part of the city's expanded efforts in providing quality education to its youth.
On Feb. 4, a commencement exercise will be held by families under the 4Ps program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), followed by the blessing of the Perimeter Fence and Ash Repository (Wall of Memories) of the Garden of Life Memorial Park in Barangay Vergara.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the soon-to-be-built Bahay Pag-Asa led by the city government will be conducted on Feb. 5.
The city government will then launch its Overseas Job Fair on Feb. 6 at the Atrium of the Executive Building of the City Hall.
On Feb. 7, a Lifestyle Check Clinic led by the City Health Department (CHD) will be conducted at the City Hall from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. followed by a First Friday Mass at 5 p.m. and the Grand Coronation Night of Miss Mandaluyong 2025 at the Mandaluyong City College Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
Several activities will also be held on Feb. 8, which include a bicycle race, Kasalang Bayan, Araw ng Pasasalamat para sa mga Bantay Bayan, and Business Night and Awarding Ceremonies for the Top Ten Taxpayers and Huwarang Mandaleño, recognizing various companies and individuals who have greatly contributed to the city's economy.
On the Liberation and Cityhood Day of Mandaluyong on Feb. 9, the mayor and vice mayor will lead the flower-laying and opening program of the celebration to be held at Liwasang Katubusan in Gen. Kalentong Street, Barangay Pag-Asa. In the afternoon, a Liberation Day motorcade will be conducted in Gen. Kalentong Street, followed by a Liberation Day Concert and Fireworks Display in Martinez Street, Barangay Addition Hills.
