Lady pilot dead in helicopter crash


GUIMBA, Nueva Ecija – A 25-year-old pilot was killed in a helicopter crash in Barangay San Miguel here on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 1.

A HELICOPTER crashed in Nueva Ecija on Feb. 1.

Lt. Col. George Calaud Jr., Guimba police chief, identified the victim as Julia Flori Po of Paranaque City.

Calaud said the victim passed by Bulacan before proceeding to Nueva Ecija.

Po's remains were recovered by responding police officers who have secured the area. 

He added that they have coordinated with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines for further investigation and recovery of the helicopter with body number RPC-3424 in a swampy area. 

The CAAP confirmed the incident and said an investigation by the Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board is  underway.

Reports on Sunday, Feb. 2,  said that the victim was the helicopter pilot of TV host and Senate bet Willie Revillame.

Revillame reportedly went to Guimba hours after the incident to see her body taken to a funeral home. Her body will be taken to Paranaque City  for a wake beginning Sunday.

Reports added that one of the rescuers, George Lutao, 59, was injured during the operation and Police Corporal Raymark Duque, a Nueva Ecija police responder, attempted to revive the victim who submerged seven feet underwater along with her helicopter but to no avail.
