TIGHT security contributed to the peaceful Panagbenga grand opening parade on Feb. 1.

BCPO chief Police Col. Ruel Tagel attributed these to the effectiveness of their strategic security measures and the active participation of the community in crime prevention.

The BCPO also reported that the grand colorful parade of the Chinese Lunar New Year on Thursday, Jan. 30, graced by Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian was crime-free as the police were on heightened alert.

Tagel said police and 1,400 force multipliers implemented a comprehensive security plan for people attending the Panagbenga opening salvo.

Traffic was light during the parade due to the widespread deployment of personnel for the rerouting scheme.

Tagel said police and force multipliers may be doubled for the grand street dancing and float parade from Feb. 22 to 23 where tourists, celebrities, and politicians are expected to attend.

“This victory is a collective victory. The discipline and vigilance of our community, coupled with the unwavering commitment of our police force, ensures a safe and enjoyable celebration in Baguio City,” Tagel said.
