SPD Director Brig. Gen. Randy Arceo said that 993 personnel from the Taguig City Police were deployed along 5th Avenue in Bonifacio Global City, where more than 150,000 spectators were expected to attend the New Year’s countdown event.
Meanwhile, 662 personnel from the Makati City Police were assigned to the Makati Avenue corner of Ayala Avenue, which was expected to draw around 32,000 attendees. Another 562 personnel from the Pasay City Police were deployed along Seaside Boulevard near the SM Mall of Asia, expected to draw around 150,000 attendees.
Arceo said the deployed police officers were tasked to enforce crowd control measures, conduct visibility patrols, and ensure rapid response to any untoward incidents. The deployment also aimed to manage pedestrian movement, traffic flow, and other public safety concerns.
He added that the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reinforced the security operations through the deployment of K9 units and handlers to prevent the entry and distribution of illegal drugs during the celebrations.
The SPD chief said the security measures were further strengthened through close inter-agency coordination among law enforcement units, fire services, and other force multipliers to ensure a swift and effective response to emergencies.
The SPD assured the public that the heightened police presence reflects its commitment to protecting lives, maintaining law and order, and enabling communities to welcome the New Year in a safe, peaceful, and orderly environment.
