BACOLOD CITY – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office on Tuesday campaigned for a safe and incident-free New Year by providing alternative noise instruments for children.
The Police Community Affairs Division Unit (PCADU) distributed toy trumpets to children in Barangay Biak-na-Bato, La Castellana and Barangay 4, Isabela, both in Negros Occidental in line with the Iwas Paputok Campaign 2025.
Police Major Wilfredo Benoman, acting PCADU chief, led the community-based activity, along with Pastor Celino Villarete, educating children and their families of the danger of using prohibited firecrackers.
This move aims to promote a joyful yet injury-free New Year celebration.
A prayer was also offered for the safety, protection, and well-being of the children and their families, strengthening community unity and shared responsibility in safeguarding lives.
Police Col. Dennis Wenceslao, Negros Occidental police director, reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring peace and safety across all towns and cities in the province as they welcome 2026.
Police are on heightened alert during the holidays, ensuring that every family can ring in the New Year with peace of mind.
