Pasig LGU sets P5,000 fine for firecracker use outside designated zones

The local government of Pasig on Tuesday, Dec. 30, announced it will impose a P5,000 fine on anyone caught using firecrackers and pyrotechnics outside designated zones.
Mayor Vico Sotto earlier said the city did not issue any special permits to sell firecrackers, leaving no one authorized to sell them. Those reported to be selling firecrackers are apprehended by authorities, and their items are confiscated.

Violators will face a P5,000 fine and confiscation of firecrackers, pyrotechnics, and other explosive devices.
In addition, the local government and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)–Pasig, together with other agencies, conducted an “Iwas Paputok” motorcade on Dec. 27 to remind Pasigueños to avoid using firecrackers when welcoming the New Year to ensure a safe and injury-free celebration.

It emphasized that the Pasig police and barangay officials are working together to apprehend individuals selling firecrackers, especially illegal ones.
