President Marcos will stay at Malacañan Palace and will not go on any trip to celebrate the new year, Malacañang said.

Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said on Wednesday, Dec. 31, that Marcos is currently at the palace, where he will welcome the new year with his family.

"Ang Pangulo ay narito lamang at walang pagbibiyahe na magaganap. Kasama niyang sasalubungin ang Bagong Taon ang kanyang pamilya at mga mahal sa buhay (The President will remain here and will not be traveling. He will welcome the New Year with his family and loved ones)," Castro said.

According to Castro, Marcos will be at Malacañan to review the 2026 national budget, which is expected to be signed during the first week of January.

Malacañang on Tuesday, Dec. 30, assured the public that Marcos and his team are "scrutinizing" the proposed 2026 national budget to ensure that all allocations and its provisions are fully accounted for any changes from the original National Expenditure Program (NEP).

Executive Secretary Ralph Recto made the commitment after receiving the 2026 General Appropriations Bill (GAB) amounting to a historic P6.793 trillion, which the House of Representatives ratified on Monday, Dec. 29 following its signing a day prior.

Recto said the Executive Branch "is now conducting a thorough review to ensure its integrity and effective execution."
