A man will be spending the New Year in jail after he was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Taguig on Dec. 31.
The suspect, identified as alias Mario, 49, a resident of Barangay Bambang, Taguig, was nabbed by operatives from Taguig police's Station Drug Enforcement Unit in the barangay.
Police tagged him as a street-level individual (SLI) and a suspected drug user.
During the operation, the police seized 16.6 grams of shabu in six plastic sachets valued at P107,900, a live MK2 hand grenade, buy-bust money consisting of two P100 bills and a P1,000 bill, and other paraphernalia.
The police will file a complaint against him for violation of Sections 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) and 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) under Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Republic Act 9516 (illegal possession of explosives).
“Our commitment continues in safeguarding the community from illegal drugs and explosives," said Brig. Gen. Randy Arceo, district director of the Southern Police District.
