MALOLOS CITY — The Bulacan Police Provincial Office, led by Col. Angel L. Garcillano, destroyed confiscated illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices, including improvised cannons known as “boga,” inside Camp General Alejo Santos on Tuesday, Dec. 30.
Garcillano was joined by 24 chiefs of police representing 20 towns and four cities in the province.
The seized firecrackers were submerged in drums of water, while the boga were dismantled to ensure they could no longer be used.
The initiative supports the “3Ps” campaign — Protect the People, Pursue Peace and Order, and Promote Professionalism — spearheaded by Brig. Gen. Ponce Jose Melencio I. Penonez Jr., director of the Police Regional Office 3.
Garcillano appealed to parents to strictly prohibit young children from handling firecrackers or fireworks, especially unexploded ones, which pose serious risks.
He also reminded the public of the strict enforcement of Republic Act 7183, which regulates the manufacture, sale, and use of fireworks.
The police director emphasized that highly dangerous devices such as Super Lolo, Atomic Big Triangulo, Goodbye Philippines, Pla-pla, Giant Whistle Bomb, and Goodbye Earth are banned due to their potential to cause severe injuries, fires, and threats to life and property.
Authorities urged residents to comply with the law and celebrate the New Year safely and peacefully. Violators, they warned, will face legal consequences.
