BACOLOD CITY – Twelve persons were injured after their minivan overturned in Barangay Orong, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, Dec. 30.
Police Lt. Col. Roberto Indiape Jr., Kabankalan police chief, said the victims came from a relative’s burial in Bais City, Negros Oriental, and were on their way home to this city when the accident happened past 2 p.m.
Indiape said that 48-year-old van driver Ernie reportedly overtook a tricycle while approaching a slightly curved road, causing him to lose control of the vehicle that eventually overturned.
Twelve of the 14 individuals inside the van, including the driver, sustained minor injuries, while two others were unharmed.
Indiape said that two of the 12 injured persons are recuperating in a hospital. No charges will be filed against the driver, he added.
