According to TPMO chief Ferdinand Lee, starting 6:00 a.m. on Dec. 31, Taft Avenue southbound, from Arnaiz Avenue to Escobal Street, will be closed to all types of vehicles to ensure public safety and ease pedestrian movement as residents prepare for New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Lee said the temporary closure is expected to help manage heavy foot traffic and prevent congestion in the area, particularly with the high volume of shoppers buying food and other essentials for the holiday.
He advised affected motorists to take alternate routes to avoid delays in reaching their destinations.
The TPMO recommended the following alternate route: motorists may take Arnaiz Avenue toward Park Avenue, turn left at Park Avenue, and proceed straight to P. Reyes Street and from there, motorists may turn left at P. Reyes, go straight to P. Villanueva Street, turn left at P. Villanueva, then turn right at Lions Road back to Taft Avenue to reach their destination.
Lee urged the public to cooperate, follow traffic signs, and remain patient, as traffic personnel will be deployed to manage traffic flow and ensure safety throughout the duration of the road closure.
