CAMP MARCELO A. ADDURU, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan — The Police Regional Office-2 is strictly enforcing the one-strike policy against indiscriminate firing during the New Year revelry.
PRO-2 chief Police Brig. Gen. Antonio P. Marallag Jr. reminded more than 9,000 police personnel in Cagayan Valley region that any involvement in indiscriminate firing will result in immediate administrative and criminal sanctions, in line with the directive of the Philippine National Police (PNP) national headquarters.
Marallag stressed that there is no room in the police organization for personnel who violate the law, particularly those who engage in indiscriminate firing, which poses a serious threat to public safety and may result in injuries or loss of life.
He said that all PRO-2 personnel are expected to uphold the highest level of discipline and professionalism, especially in the handling and use of firearms.
“Any form of indiscriminate firing constitutes a grave dereliction of duty and will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” Marallag said.
He warned that violators will face possible dismissal from the service and the filing of appropriate cases, in accordance with existing laws. Under the one-strike policy, there will be no warning and no second chance.
“The strict enforcement of the one-strike policy aims to prevent accidents. As the region prepares to welcome the New Year, I urge all police personnel to lead by example through restraint, responsible action, and strict adherence to the law,” Marallag added.
