Pasayeños urged not to burn copper wires, rubber tires to prevent fire hazards
The Pasay City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) advised the public to refrain from burning copper wires, tires, and other materials that produce thick smoke and pose serious threats to safety and health.
Authorities said burning such materials not only endangers public health and safety but also frequently triggers unnecessary emergency responses from firefighters, diverting resources away from actual fire incidents.

The BFP, in partnership with the city government, warned that the thick smoke produced by burning copper wires and rubber tires can easily be mistaken for a structural fire, prompting alarm calls and the deployment of emergency units.
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano appealed to Pasayeños to cooperate with authorities by practicing proper waste disposal and avoiding activities that could lead to fires or false alarms.
“Fire prevention is a shared responsibility,” Rubiano said, noting that avoiding dangerous practices helps keep the community safe and ensures emergency responders are available when they are truly needed.
