BACOLOD CITY – A 36-year-old police officer was stabbed while pacifying a commotion during a fiesta in Purok Lacson, Barangay Caliban, Murcia, Negros Occidental on Saturday, Dec. 28.
The victim, a resident of Murcia, has a rank of police staff sergeant and assigned to the City Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the Bacolod City Police Office.
Police Capt. Honey Labaro, Murcia police chief, said the victim was sleeping at his friend's house when he heard a commotion outside due to drunkenness, prompting him to respond.
However, a 29-year-old man identified as Roian reportedly drew a kitchen knife, and they grappled with the bladed weapon.
Labaro said the victim was stabbed in the right eyebrow, chest, and left wrist and is recuperating in a hospital.
The suspect was arrested in Barangay Pandanon, Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental and the weapon was recovered.
