TUGUEGARAO CITY — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Region 2 said 89,101 workers in the Cagayan Valley region benefited from the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program in 2025, with total assistance amounting to P488.9 million.
DOLE-Region 2 Director Jesus Elpidio B. Atal Jr. said the program is designed to provide immediate assistance to poor and displaced workers and help protect their livelihoods, particularly during calamities.
Beneficiaries include displaced workers, parents of child laborers, Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs), and other vulnerable sectors temporarily unable to work.
The agency also reported that nearly 35,000 workers in the regionaffected by tropical cyclones were given temporary employment under the program with ₱187.9 million allocated for cleanup and rehabilitation activities.
One of the beneficiaries, Edna Capuz, lost her home due to typhoon ‘’Uwan’’ and received assistance through the program.
Atal said TUPAD not only provides immediate relief but also helps rebuild communities by engaging beneficiaries in employment and rehabilitation efforts.
