AUTHORITIES inspect a vehicle that plowed into a house in Cervantes, Ilocos Sur on Dec. 30.
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Fourteen persons were injured when their van crashed into a house in Barangay Aluling, Cervantes town, Ilocos Sur province, on Tuesday morning, Dec. 30.
Police Capt. Oliver Sari, Cervantes police chief, said the van came from Tuguegarao City, Cagayan province and were on their way to a tourist destination in Sigay, Ilocos Sur – Aw-awasen Falls – when the accident happened.
Sari said the van was traveling downhill and reportedly lost its brakes on a curved section of the road and the driver lost control of the vehicle.
“The van veered off the road and rammed houses on the roadside before crashing into the second floor of a house,” Sari said.
Videos on Facebook showed shocked residents proceeding to the area to check what happened.
The driver and passengers – teachers and students from Isabela, Cagayan, Ifugao, and Cavite provinces – sustained injuries and were brought to the hospital.
“All the victims are now in stable condition and have already been discharged from the hospital,” Sari added.
No one was reported hurt in the house. The house and van were severely damaged. Damage to property is yet to be determined.
