The Centro Escolar University (CEU) School of Dentistry proudly marked its 100th anniversary with a landmark celebration honoring a century of academic excellence, service, and leadership in dental education.
The program opened with the doxology, followed by the singing of the National Anthem and the CEU Hymn. A grand procession and presentation of organizers followed, led by CEU Dentistry alumni president Dr. Carmen A. Aguilar, together with past CEUDAA presidents, alumni who served as past PDA presidents, past dean Dr. Renato Sison, and current dean Dr. Mary Iodine Lacanienta. Dr. Aguilar later delivered the welcome remarks. Special guest CEU Board director Maria Corazon Tiongco also graced the occasion.
A major highlight of the celebration was the formal launch of the Search for the 100 Centennial Awardees, honoring outstanding alumni whose achievements have brought pride to the profession and the University. The awards featured three categories—Special Awards, Distinguished Service Awards, and Centennial Awards. The distinguished panel of judges included Atty. Domingo Reyes Jr., president of PLM; Dr. Teresita G. Inciong, executive director and vice president of the Early Childhood Care & Development Council; and Dr. Carmen A. Aguilar, president of the CEU Dentistry Alumni Chapter. Presenters included Dr. Techie Perez, VP for Membership, and Roscel Paule Chua, president of MEHSAC, representing Dr. Paz I. Lucido, Dr. Lorena Balacanao, secretary Dr Maria Wanda Martinez, EVP: and dean Mary Iodine Lacanienta.
Adding vibrancy to the evening was the introduction of Mr. and Ms. Centennial, symbolic student ambassadors representing the enduring values and spirit of CEU Dentistry. This year’s honorees, Dr. Feliciano P. Feliciano Jr. and Dr. Rea C. Nisce, were presented with crowns, sashes, and cash prizes.
Another anticipated milestone was the unveiling of the centennial coffee table book, “Lasting Bond and Beyond: CEU Dent Centenary Memoir,” a beautifully curated volume documenting the institution’s history, pioneering leaders, distinguished alumni, and the legacy that has shaped CEU’s significant role in advancing dental education.
The Pledge of Loyalty was led by Dr. Maria Wanda I. Martinez, executive vice president of the CEU Dentistry Alumni Chapter, followed by an In Memoriam tribute in honor of beloved mentors who have passed on.
The celebration was further uplifted by moving musical and dance performances accompanied by the Serenity Band, adding a warm and festive spirit to the evening. The program concluded with a lively raffle draw.
The centennial commemoration stood as a testament to CEU Dentistry’s unwavering commitment to excellence and its enduring mission to shape leaders who elevate communities and advance oral health care in the Philippines and beyond.
