1 dead, 23 hurt as bus crashes in Quezon

INFANTA, Quezon – A youth leader was killed and 23 individuals were injured when a tourist bus transporting members of a youth organization from Barangay Bagong Silangan, Quezon City turned on its side on the Marilaque Highway in Barangay Magsaysay, this town, on Monday morning, Dec. 29.
The Kabataan Bagong Silang (KBS), with the Quezon City Social Welfare and Development Office, were on their way to this town for a youth camp when the accident happened.
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office confirmed the incident but withheld the names of the victims.
Rescue was reportedly difficult due to lack of communication signal in the area. 
Officials of Bagong Silangan, Quezon City, immediately dispatched additional ambulances to assist victims.
Victims were taken and given first aid at the Claro Recto Memorial Hospital here.
Officials of Barangay Bagong Silangan advised parents who want to check on their children to go to the barangay hall.
The MDRRMO advises motorists to exercise caution while passing by the area.
Authorities are conducting follow-up investigation.
