Baguio police destroy illegal firecrackers

BAGUIO CITY – Police destroyed 500 illegal firecrackers here on Saturday, Dec. 27.
Baguio City Police Office Director Police Col. Ruel Tagel, along with city officials, led the destruction ceremony.
Tagel said the contraband were recovered from various barangays where they were illegally sold.
“As the New Year approaches, our police are on standby to monitor their sale and keep our community away from their use,” Tagel said.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong said barangay officials will be held accountable if people are caught illegally selling firecrackers in their areas.
“It is better for us to welcome the New Year peacefully, without anyone getting hurt, so I call on the public to immediately report those selling illegal fireworks to the police,” Magalong said.
