ENAGE
TACLOBAN CITY — Filipino contemporary artist Dante Enage has been officially selected to participate in the 10th Beijing International Art Biennale (BIAB 2025) in China following a rigorous three-jury review process.
He will join an elite group of global artists showcasing their work at the Beijing Exhibition Center from Dec. 29 to Jan. 28.
This year’s biennale has the theme "Coexistence," exploring the interdependence of humanity, nature, and society.
Enage will present his large-scale acrylic-on-canvas work, "Patterned Paradise 1," a rich fusion of geometric motifs and organic forms.
The piece integrates Visayan pintados tattoo patterns, ancient Baybayin script with modern aesthetics, and environmental themes that reflect the balance between natural flora and abstract structures.
"In Patterned Paradise, I create a dreamlike sanctuary. It is a celebration of beauty in detail, where birds and cultural echoes coexist to evoke both serenity and wonder,” Enage said.
A native of Tacloban City, Leyte, Enage’s selection marks a key milestone in his post-pandemic career.
Since relocating to Manila to expand his reach, he has achieved rapid international recognition, including a 16th solo exhibition at Art Camp Gallery in Makati City this December and participation in World Art Dubai last April. He has shown work in Malaysia, Indonesia, France, and Italy.
Regarded as one of the world’s largest art events, BIAB has featured prominent Filipino artists Dennis Montera (2013), Maximino Balatbat II (2015), Cristina Taniguchi (2017), Samuel Penaso, and Bong Perez (2019).
